For this project in Glen Mills, our client had a simple but meaningful goal. She wanted a quiet, shaded outdoor space where she could sit and read her books in peace. What followed was a custom-designed retreat that blends comfort, privacy, and thoughtful engineering.
The Design
To bring this vision to life, we constructed a raised patio attached to the home, creating a defined outdoor living space that feels like a natural extension of the house.
A pergola structure was installed over the patio to provide shade and architectural interest. To increase both comfort and privacy, we added mechanical privacy shades to the sides and top, allowing the homeowner to easily control sunlight, wind, and visibility.
Built for Comfort and Function
Beyond the structure itself, the project included several important functional elements:
- Drainage to properly manage water flow and protect the patio
- Landscape lighting to allow the space to be used in the evening
- Irrigation to support surrounding plantings and keep the area lush and inviting
The Result
