Extending a New Three-Season Room Outdoors
After installing a raised three-season room, the homeowners wanted to continue that space into the yard with a patio and firepit that felt relaxed, natural, and easy to use. The goal was to create an outdoor living area that flowed seamlessly from the home while blending into the surrounding landscape.
Creating a Natural, Organic Look
From the start, the design focused on natural materials and an informal layout. Rather than clean lines or uniform surfaces, the client wanted a space that felt timeless and grounded, something that looked like it belonged there.
We installed an irregular flagstone patio directly off the new addition, using varied stone shapes and textures to achieve an organic, lived-in feel that complements the home and property.
Firepit & Boulder Seating Design
The firepit was built using large flagstone slabs set in a square pattern, giving it a solid, handcrafted look while still feeling natural. To surround the firepit, we placed 18-inch boulders that serve as both seating and a subtle sitting wall, reinforcing the rustic aesthetic without the need for traditional masonry walls.
Lighting & Functional Details
Low-voltage landscape lighting was added throughout the space to provide soft illumination in the evenings without overpowering the natural character of the design. We also incorporated proper drainage to ensure the patio performs well year-round and remains protected from water issues over time.
A Warm & Inviting Outdoor Living Space
The finished patio and firepit area create a welcoming extension of the home, perfect for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying time outdoors. The combination of irregular flagstone, natural boulder seating, and subtle lighting results in a space that feels both functional and effortlessly connected to the landscape.
