Custom Flagstone Patio with Natural Stone Veneer Wall and Fire Pit

For this project, the homeowners reached out to us with a simple request- build their new outdoor space with the same stone that was used to build the house.

This project involved the removal of the existing elevated wood deck and balcony, installing a dimensional flagstone patio with natural stone veneer sitting walls, and a custom gas fire pit at the same level as the existing deck.

After some research, we were able to work with a local quarry to source the same natural schist stone that was used to build the house almost a hundred years ago.

We reconfigured the space to accommodate the new patio shape, enhanced drainage system, new plantings and were even able to transplant some old-growth Rhododendrons to help to screen the backyard from the street.

Also included in the build were a new dimensional flagstone front walkway and a matching stone veneer entrance wall.

We also worked with a local fabricator to commission a new wrought iron Juliet balcony.

After we installed the balcony, the effect was a bright, open space with a cozy gas fire pit and plenty of room to entertain!
